Dhanush-starrer 'Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram launched

New Dhanush-starrer "Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram" was formally launched at the AVM Studios, Chennai, on Aug. 31 morning. There was a large turnout from Kollywood at the function.


Choreographer Raju Sundaram makes his debut as director through this film which is to be produced by Kayaar.


Top heroine of yesteryear and national award winner Archana is playing the role of the mother of Dhanush. She makes the comeback after a 15-year break.


Meera Jasmine plays heroine opposite Dhanush for the first time.


"Parattai..." is the remake of the Kannada blockbuster "Jogi" with Shivraj Kumar playing the hero. "Jogi" is also being made in Telugu with Prabhas in the lead.


Besides Meera Jasmine, the Tamil remake has Chandrasekhar, Nazar, Riyaskhan, Santhanam and Vayapuri.


At the launch of "Parattai..." Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's wife Rajathi Ammal lit the traditional kuthuvilakku and blessed Dhanush and his wife, Aishwarya, daughter of superstar Rajinikanth.


Stars who attended the function included Asin, Vijay, Prabhu Deva, Jeeva , Selvaraghavan, directors Shankar, K.S. Ravikumar and Kasthuriraja, producers Ramanarayanan, Rowthar, T.G. Thiagarajan, Azhagappan and H. Murarli.


Rajinikanth who was expected to be present, did not turn up disappointing the gathering.


Talking to mediapersons after the function, Dhanush said the new film is one which can be watched by whole families, including children. The story is about the strong emotional mother-son bond. Dhanush as son is very affectionate to his mother (Archana) and his love for her is boundless. He plays dual roles as Parattai and Azhagu Sundaram. He is growing long hair for one of these roles.


Director Raju Sundaram said he wished for a national award winner to don the role of mother and his choice was Archana.


Archana said she was in a dilemma whether to accept the role or not but she finally gave her nod after listening to the story which impressed her very much.



Archana was honored at the function with a Ponnadai (shawl) by Aiswarya.


Dhanush and Aiswarya are expecting their baby next month.. In a lighter vein, Dhanush said that "for us in our family, it doesn't matter where it is a boy or a girl. We will be happy all the same," .
