Director Madhumita's second film launched

Chennai, May.25: The shooting of director Madhumita's second film, 'Kola kolaya mundhirika,' has begun. Noted director, K. Balachander, present at the launch of the film in Chennai on May 21 sounded the first clap.

Madhumita says, "The film is a comedy caper starring Poi Solla porom and Yaridee Nee Mohini, actor Karthik Kumar. Shika, Kannada actress makes her debut into Kollywood as the heroine."

While the story and dialogues are by Crazy Mohan, the screenplay is by Madhumita.

It is produced by Giriguja films, a home production and is likely to be released this November. The cast includes, Jayaram, M.S. Baskar, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Vasu Vikram, T.M.K of Evam theater group and Delhi Ganesh.

On her selection of Karthik for the role, she says, "I was on the lookout for someone who was only a few films old and could adapt to the role. He was selected during the auditions."

Shika was also selected at the auditions. Her real name is Bhavna Rao and she has acted in a Kannada film, 'Galiappata.'

Madhumita's debut film, 'Vallamai tharayo,' was received well at various festivals including the Asian Film Festival and recently at the Newport Beach Festival, California.

"It was amazing. There were more foreigners at the screening of my film than Indians. The story appealed to them since it was a different kind of story. After the screening, there was a questions and answer session with me. It ranged from questions on the Indian culture to being a woman director."

Assisting Madhumita on her new venture is her husband, Vijay Venkataraman, the technical director of the film. The film will be shot mainly in Chennai and song sequences are planned at Pondicherry. Music is by Selva ganesh (of Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu fame). Cinematographer is L.K.Vijay ( Kulir 100 Degrees).
