Eight Tamil films launched in one day

Vijay's next film titled "Villu" was among eight Tamil films launched on June 6. Directed by Prabhu Deva, the film is a remake of the Hindi film "Soldier". Playing opposite Vijay is Asin. Cinematographer is Ravi Varman and music director is Devi Sri Prasad. Vadivelu has been given a meaty role in the film. K. Karunamurthi and C. Arunpandian are producing the film under the banner of Ayangaran International. The shooting commenced at Neikkaranpatti near Palani.


Sham-Kirat Bhattal-starrer "Agam Puram" directed by "Thee Nagar" Tirumalai was launched at the new Pillayar Temple on the premises of AVM Studios in Chennai.


The muhurat of "Deiva Magan' featuring new hero Gajan and Meera Jasmine was performed at Rajini Pillaiyar Temple at AVM Studio. Jasmine could not make it to the function.


Another film that was launched is "Cheranattu Cholayile with newcomers Jeevagan and Desika. The muhurt was performed at AVM's RR Theatre with a song recording. While Pratap Mani directs the film, Box Office Productions produces it.


"Nandalala", the joint venture of Ayangaran International and GV Films, with director- turned- actor Mysskin in the lead was launched at Green Park Hotel in Chennai. This is Mysskin's first film as an actor. As director he had back-to-back hits with "Chithiram Pesuthadi" and "Anjathe". "Jay" and "Vetri Vendan" were Mysskin's earlier films. In "Nandalala" Singda of "Kaththazha Kannale" fame plays the heroine. (She flew in from Mumbai to attend the function.). Child artiste Ashvanth dons a main character. Ilayaraja composes the music.


The other films lunched on June 6 are "Charithram" featuring Rajkiran and "Mrigam" Adi, directed by Sami and "Malayan" with Karan and Udayathara in the lead, which will be directed by M. Gopi and produced by ITA Films' S.N. Raja.


Vijayakanth, who has taken to politics, launched his next film, yet to be named, without ostentation at producer Siva's Amman Creations Office. The new film will be directed by Vikraman. Vijayakanth's earlier film "Arasangam" is claimed to be doing well at the box-office.
