'Endiran' (Robot) shooting begins on Sept.8

Director Shankar has changed the title of his next film from "Robot" to "Endiran" and is starting its shooting in Peru on Sept.8.

Superstar Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the lead characters, left for US on Sept.4. Shankar accompanied them along with a 40-member crew to film two songs for the sci-fi movie.

The location chosen for filming these songs is Peru's Machu Picchu, one of the new wonders of the world, the renowned "lost city" hidden for centuries and perched on a hilltop in the sub-tropical Andean foothills.

"Endiran", being touted as Kollywood's most "historic venture", has generated a lot of interest. Shankar has enlisted a highly creative team to execute the project. The team includes music director A.R. Rahman and ace cinematographer Rathnavelu.

Mary E. Vogt, the Hollywood designer who worked for films like "Men in Black", "Batman Returns" and "Inspector Gadget" will design the costumes for Rajinikanth who plays "Endiran" (Robot).

The animatronics of the film will be handled by the famous Stan Winston Studio (USA). The visual effects and animatronics co-ordination will be done by Indian Artiste.

The stunt director is Yuen Woo Ping. He has become famous for his stunt sequences in "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon"," Matrix" and "Kill".

Hollywood companies, ILM, Tippet and Café EFX and Hong Kong companies like Centro and Men fond will work on VFX.

Ayangran International Films Private Limited and Eros International are producing this mega film.

As Shah Rukh Khan has opted out of this project, Shankar is now making the film in Tamil with Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles.

Notwithstanding the fact that Shankar is pressing ahead with the project, SRK's company, Red Chillies Entertainment Private Limited, has registered nine titles with Robot tags. The titles registered last week at the Association of Motion Pictures and TV Programme Producers (AMPTPP) are: "Mein Hoon Robot", "Mera Robot", "Pyara Robot", "Robot", "Robot a Hero", "Robot Hoon Mein", "Robot My Hero", "Robotics" and "Robott".
