FIR against 'obscene' stage performance at IPL inaugural
Sep 5, 2012 PGVThe Chennai City Police has registered an FIR in connection with the alleged ‘obscene’ stage performance at the inaugural of Indian Premier League-V on April 3. Government advocate S. Prabha gave this information when a petition seeking prosecution of the performers as well as organizers came up for hearing before the Madras High Court last Monday.
The stage performers included Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, American singer Katy Perry and Australian cricketer Douglas Bollinger.
Petitioner (a Madurai lawyer), who claimed to have watched the performance on TV, stated in his police complaint that the performers on the stage as well as the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) president N. Srinivasan and IPL-V governing council chairman Rajeev Shukla were liable to be prosecuted mainly on the charges of profiting from obscene acts, exhibiting obscene objects to youngsters and singing obscene songs in public places.
