Gautham not directing next Ajith film

Gautham Vasudev Menon is not directing the next film starring Ajith. The clarification has been issued by Gautham to make his position clear.

After Ajith's Aegan, Gautham was to direct another film (yet to be titled) featuring the 'ultimate star' to be produced by Sivaji Productions. Ajith reportedly impressed with the gist of the story narrated to him by Gautham and Sivaji Productions had announced its plan to launch the film this month after the screenplay was ready.

The story is said to be revolving around the characters akin to notorious terrorist and bomb blast accused Abu Salem and his girlfriend Monica Bedi. Some people close to Ajith had expressed reservations about Ajith actor playing the lead character (which in other words Abu Salem). Following this Ajith and Gautham also had a verbal clash.

With Gautham pulling out of the project, it is said Dharani will direct this film and the shooting will start next month.

When mediapesons contacted Gautham for comment, the director said the new film could not be launched in November as the release of Surya-starrer "Varanam Aayiram" was getting delayed. But 'they' (meaning producers) were keen on starting the project immediately. So, " I have withdrawn". He said he has to complete the shooting of "Chennayil Oru Mazhaikalam". After the release of this film in April next, he would direct a Telugu film with Mahesh Babu in the lead, he said. .
