Ilayaraja composes for a Short film

Prabhakaran, who has been popular as an art director has turned one more phase in his career. He has directed a short film titled 'Amma.' Maestro Illayaraja has lent his musical genius to this film. This is the first time ever that the composer has done the music for a short film. The background music for the film has been scored on par with international standards. The director of the film has revealed that the maestro's music has enhanced the film in every way.


Recently Prabhakaran's film got the honor of being screened at the Cannes Film Festival. The film has been inspired by writer Pushpa Thangadurai's short story. 'Amma' has a running time of 35 minutes. Apart from being screened at Cannes the film will also be a part of film fests to be held at Orlando, Chicago and Moscow.


'Amma' has Kodaikanal as the back drop. The lead character has been essayed by Marc, an American. Archana who appeared in 'Mynaa' has essayed the role of Mulli. Sukumar, the cinematographer of 'Mynah' has done the cinematography for this film too. Art director Prabhakaran has been in the industry for more than 15 years with his career spanning more than 60 films. He has also worked in small screen serials as well as in ad films. He is a twin time state award winner for art direction.
