Music enthusiasts in Andhra Pradesh have much reason to rejoice. Maestro Ilayaraja is all set to start a music university in Tirupati. He will operate this institute in collaboration with veteran Tollywood actor, Mohanbabu, who runs educational institutions in Tirupati.

The duo shares a close friendship for a long time now. The music director has been the chief guest at many award ceremonies and functions in Mohanbabu's educational institutions. Ilayaraja is also composing for "Gundello Godari," a movie by Lakhsmi Manchu, Mohan Babu's daughter.

Confirming the news, Lakshmi says, "Yes, my dad and Ilayaraja uncle are soon going to start a music university. Both of them have been spending a lot of time in Tirupati lately for the same. The details will be revealed soon." Talking about the camaraderie her dad and Ilayaraja share, she says, "Ilayaraja uncle and dad are great friends and respect each other a lot. In fact, on my dad's birthday last year, he came all the way to Tirupati with his music troupe to our institution and performed my dad's favorite songs. It was a touching moment for the family."

Mohanbabu's elder son and actor Vishnu Manchu, who oversees the operations of these educational institutions says this establishment will be a one-of-its kind university in India. "We will finalize all the details after I am back in India. This will be something music lovers can look forward to."
