Malayalam actress Isha Talwar is the latest addition to the cast of ‘Thillu Mullu’ to be remade. She has been finalized as the heroine.

The rib-tickling comedy caper with Rajinikanth in the lead, directed by K. Balachander, was released in 1981. The remake is to be directed by Badri (‘Veerappu’ fame)’ and produced by Pushpa Kandasamy. The original ‘Thillu Mullu’ itself was a remake of Hindi flick ‘Gol Mal’.

Mirchi Siva will reprise Rajini’s role in the remake while Prakash Raj will do the role played by Thengai Srinivasan. Kovai Sarala will don the character, which Sowcar Janaki did in the original.

The film’s muhurt is scheduled for August 24 and the shooting will commence next month.

M.S. Viswanathan and Ilayaraja’s son Yuvan Shankar Raja will score the music. It is notable that 26 years ago it was the MSV-Ilayaraja combo that delivered the memorable number ‘Mella Thiranthathu Kadavu’.
