Jackie Chan coming to Chennai on April 24

Hollywood action hero Jackie Chan will be arriving in Chennai on April 24 to participate in Kamal-starrer Dasavatharam's music CD/cassette release function.

The function will be held at 5 pm on April 25 at the Nehru Indoor Stadium. Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi will be the guest of honor.

Jackie Chan will be staying at a five-star hotel in Adyar.

Amitabh Bachchan, Chiranjeevi, Mammootty, Vijay, Hemamalini, Mallika Sherawat, Asin will be among the celebrities participating in the function.

Producer Oscar Ravinchandran and his brother met Jackie Chan in Hong Kong in February and invited him to Chennai for the audio release. They also showed him the film's clippings. The function had to be postponed twice to facilitate Chan's participation.

Kamal Haasan in an interview to English daily said, "Chan is well known to the producer. So he decided to invite him. It will be a grand event."

As for the music of "Dasavatharam", he has been quoted as saying that Reshammiya has composed some excellent pieces. "It's rare for a composer from the north to create tunes that allow the lyricist here to lend words with equal ease. Himesh has pulled that off." (Devi Sriprasad has handled the re-recording.)

The story, screenplay and dialogue for the film are by Kamal. "With an ambitious storyline featuring 10 characters, Dasavatharam will have contemporaneous messages encompassing such concerns as the environment, science and faith. It has a lot of Al Gore in it, and also Ramanujar."

While using a complex story-telling technique, audience entertainment has not been lost sight of, he told the newspaper.
