Veteran actress Jayachitra will be playing the role of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in A.M.R. Ramesh's 'Vanayudham', which depicts the life of forest brigand Veerappan.

Director Ramesh, who has completed a long schedule of shooting for the film, has confirmed the featuring Jayachitra as the Chief Minister in the biopic.

It was during Jayalalithaa's chief ministership that a special task force headed by Director General of Police Vijayakumar had been constituted to track down the marauding sandalwood smuggler and elephant poacher. The operation left Veerappan dead ending the reigning of terror by the dreaded forest brigand over the decades.

Arjun plays DGP Vijayakumar. A couple of associates of Veerappan also are cast in the film.

Referring to Veerappan's wife Muthulakshmi's apprehensions that the film would show her husband in bad light, Ramesh reportedly said the film would just show facts as they are and in any case there are the Censors who will decide. He claims "Jayalalithaa maam has learnt about it (film) already."

According to him, 96 per cent of the shooting has been completed. The film will be wrapped up by March 10. Click the Movie button below for more info:
