Kamal Haasan reaches out to the needy on his birthday
Nov 8, 2010 NRActor Kamal Haasan turned 56 on Nov. 7. At the celebrations organized by 'Kamal Haasan Narpani Iyakkam,' the actor distributed financial aid and presented articles of use to the less privileged. These included uniforms to 56 auto drivers, tailoring machines to 15 women, medicines worth Rs 20,000 for students of an NGO, 50 blankets to an NGO in Tiruvannamalai, pillows and mats to an old age home, besides a laptop for a class XII student and books worth Rs 25000 to college students.
Speaking on the occasion, the actor urged his fans to continue to serve the needy. He also said, 'We are preparing a data list of all blood donors so that in future anyone can approach the Narpani Iyakkam during an emergency.'
His dream was to prepare a data base of blood donors through the organization for the entire country. Kamal Hassan also lauded the organ donation and blood donation camps, being held today.
