Two days after the release of "Dasavatharam", its hero Kamal Haasan said it is a success.

Mediapersons met him after the function at Vani Mahal, T.Nagar, Chennai, where the "Kodaikanal" audio was released by him on June 15.

Replying to their queries, Kamal said "Dasavatharam" has been well received by the audiences all over. "I am not the only one responsible for the success. The other actors and actresses and the technicians should share the credit. The fans also are one of the reasons for the success of the film."

Earlier, addressing the gathering at the function, Kamal said he was overwhelmed when others spoke of the success of the film in which he played ten roles.

He said a film is a big or small would be known only after its release. Though a film is made on a big budget, it becomes small when those who see it show displeasure. In this context he referred to "16 Vayadinile" and said they made this film after undergoing great hardship, financially and otherwise. Yet, it was the viewers who made it a big success. It is true artistes love to be applauded. "Dasavatharam" was also made with a view to getting applause from the audience. Some speakers had said "I should get an Oscar."

"I have a wish. Instead of our getting an Oscar, Whiteman (vellaikaran) should come to India and receive our award with pride. This will certainly happen before my lifetime," Kamal said.
