Chennai, Sep 5 (IANS) The long awaited Kamal Haasan starrer "Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu" has finally reached the theatres and it has not disappointed any one. The hype was justified. It is a big triumph for director Gowtham Menon, whose last film was "Kaakka Kaakka".

The top five Tamil films are:

1. "Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu" - Director: Gowtham Menon. It is after a long time that a Kamal Haasan film has been released. His last film was "Mumbai Express". This fast-paced thriller has had a terrific opening at the box office.

2. "Thimiru" - Director: Tarun Gopi. This is actor Vishal's third hit after "Chellamay" and "Sandakozhi" and he is now described as the man to take on the mantle of 'action hero' from Vijay.

3. "Something Something Unakkum Enakkum" - Director: Raja. This feel-good fun film is going great guns even amidst violent action movies.

4. "Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi" - Director: Simbudevan. "Imsai Arasan..." continues to rock.

5. "Aran" - Director: Major Ravi. Slow and steady wins the race. Yes, "Aran" is slowly catching up though it is no patch on the extremely successful original Malayalam version "Keerthi Chakra", which is a blockbuster in Kerala.
