Character artiste Kumaravel, who acted as ‘Ravi Shastry’ in ‘Abhiyum Naanum’, has turned a hero. He plays one of the leads along with Aari and Karna in Director Guhan Sambantham’s ‘Dharani’.

Said to be inspired by Robert Frost’s ‘Road not Taken’, ‘Dharani’ is about three men who lost the battle for success. The film charts the path taken by them to achieve their goal and details how they traverse through to nowhere.

Sandra and Suchitra play the female leads.

Aari and Karna have undergone a complete physical makeover for the film. Kumaravel holds a Master’s degree in dramatics. An experienced Koothu artiste, coming as he does from a theatre background, Kumaravel has specially trained at Purisai Kannappa Thambiran’s Koothu School for months together for ‘Dharani’ which features him in two koothu dances with live orchestra. Guhan picturised these dance scenes without the help of choreographers. Kannappa Thambiran’s son Kannappa Sammantham has performed along with his troupe for a particular song.. Sources say these koothu dances are one of the highlights of the film.

R. Prakash and Vinoth Gandhi handled the camera and Enson scored the music.

VGS Narendran has produced the film under the banner of Melody Movies
