'Kuselan' theatrical rights to be auctioned

Superstar Rajinikanth-starrer "Kuselan" will break new ground in Tamil cinema.


The film's theatrical rights will be sold in auction.


Producer K. Balachander has reportedly taken this decision in view of the growing competition among distributors to acquire the rights of this film.


An auction will be conducted soon. The release rights are expected to fetch a record price in the auction.


The movie, a remake of the Malayalam hit "Katha Parayumbol", directed P. Vasu, features, besides Rajanikanth, Pasupathy, Meena and Nayantara. .


Rajini plays the role of superstar as in the original Malayalam flick. Pasupathy plays a poor barber.


The shooting is progress at the Film City in Hyderabad. A dance sequence heralding Rajini in the opening scene, choreographed by Brinda, was filmed on April 23. In this sequence, Rajini is shown riding a horse which is made to look like flying by computer graphics. To create this set, 150 lorry loads of sand was spread on the ground, it is said.


G.V Prakash has composed the tune for the opening song, "Cinema, cinema, cinemathaan…MGR, NTR, Sivaji, Rajkumar vanthathum inda cinemathaan," written by Vali


From Hyderabad, the unit will move to Udumalpet for the next phase of shooting.
