Lakshmi Rai disillusioned in Kollywood

Bangalore actress Lakshmi Rai is disillusioned with her roles in Tamil films. Before entering Kollywood, she had gained prominence acting in many Malayalam and Kannada films.

Her teaming up with Lawrence in the Tamil film ‘Kanchana’ which became a big hit, shot her to fame in Kollywood too. This instant success prompted her to continue to do more Tamil films in the hope that she would make it big in Tamil films. But to her disappointment, after ‘Kanchana’ she has had no big break in Tamil films.

For instance, in Ajith-starrer ‘Mankatha’, Lakshmi Rai came only next to Trishna and Andrea Jeremiah. The next big movie, which featured her, was the just released Vikram-starrer ‘Thandavam’. In this flick also Lakshmi Rai played not so prominent a role as she would have liked.

But back home (Sandalwood), she is currently playing the lead in ‘Attahaasa’ and in the Kannada remake of ‘Kalpana’.

Sources close to Lakshmi Rai say since the actress continues to be accepted as one of the top-rung heroines in Kannada, she has decided to give first priority to Kannada films.
