T. Ramesh, producer of the Vishal-starrer ‘Samar’ has bought the Tamil and Telugu remake rights of Director Mani Ratnam’s 1988 blockbuster ‘Agni Nakshatram’.

Disclosing this, Ramesh told mediapersons that he is holding talks with some of the top stars in Kollywood and Tollywood to be cast in the fresh version of the movie.

‘Agni Nakshtram’ was acclaimed as a classic with Prabhu and Karthik being the lead actors. The aggressive characters they portrayed with aplomb are still being remembered even after 22 years.

According to Ramesh, the remake will be a big project and he will announce the cast and crew in a couple of weeks.

‘Agni Nakshatram’ was dubbed in Telugu as ‘Gharshana’ and remade in Hindi as ‘Vansh’.

Two years ago, actor-director Chi Gurudutt was all set to remake the film in Kannada with actors aditya and Prajwal Devaraj. But the project failed to take off. Sometime later, Gurudutt again tried to revive the project but in vain.
