Manorama hospitalized; in critical condition
Nov 1, 2011 PSVeteran actress Manorama, popularly known as 'Aachi' (Grandma), who sustained head injuries after falling in a bathroom in Kalahasthi last week, has been admitted in Apollo Speciality Hospital, Chennai where she is expected to undergo a surgery today (November 1).
The 68-year-old actress, has acted in over 1500 films in a career spanning five decades. In fact, she is a Guinness World Record holder for acting in the most number of films. She was last seen in the film 'Ponnar Shankar', which was directed by Thiagarajan.
Hospital sources claim that Manorama is on the ventilator support and her condition is critical. However, the doctors are confident that the veteran actress' condition would improve after undergoing the surgery today. Several veteran film personalities and filmmakers have made anxious enquiries about the health of Manorama. Doctors say that she would recover soon and be restored to her normal life.
Interestingly, she is the one artiste who has acted with four Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu, namely Annadurai ('Naan Kanda Hindu Rajyam'), Karunanidhi ('Udaya Sooryan'), M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa ('Aayirathil Oruvan', 'Galata Kalyanam',etc.). She has also acted with the legendary NTR, who later became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
