
Mohanroop's maiden Tamil film 'Thooduvan' release this week
Jun 4, 2012 PGVDirector Mohanroop’s first Tamil film titled ‘Thooduvan’ comes after eight Malayalam films. It is scheduled to release this week. It portrays the lives of the underprivileged.
‘Thooduvan’, starring Aditya, Gowri and Archana, is a realistic tale of rag-pickers who are neglected or ignored by society. The film narrates the difficulties and challenges they face and the way some of them come up in life fighting the odds.
Pioneer Movies ‘Thooduvan’ is produced by Sankararaman, a businessman from Kerala. The story, screenplay, dialogue and direction are by Mohanroop. Sajith Chandra is the composer and Thozhan is the lyricist. Dilip Raman is the cinematographer.
Besides Aditya, Gowri and Archana, the film features Gopikrishna, Nikil, Kovai Senthil and Malar Madhi.
There are eight songs in the album. Each song has a ring of melancholy.
Speaking at the audio launch, director Mohanroop said he has filmed the story entertainingly but also with a message. His eight Malayalam films included ‘Vettah’ with Mammooty, Mohanlal and Srinivasan.
Hero Aditya has studied music and was working as a music teacher when Thooduvan came his way. He is currently acting in ‘Signal’, a Malayalam film and ‘Sollamattein’, a Tamil film. In Thooduvan, he plays a physically challenged person.
For music director Sajith Chandran also, Thooduvan is the first Tamil film. Basically a keyboard player and programmer, he has worked with some of the best music directors and composed many jingles and the title songs for 12 Malayalam TV serials.
