Muhurat of 10 films in one day to beat 'Adi' month
Jul 15, 2008 PVS"Muhurt' of ten Tamil films were performed in one day in Chennai on Monday (July 14), the last day auspicious day of the month of 'Ani' before the start of the month 'Adi' (July 16 to Aug.15).
No auspicious functions, including marriages, are conducted or any new projects are launched during the Tamil month 'Adi'.
Film producers, actors and actresses and media persons were on their toes rushing from one 'muhurt' to another from morning on July 14.
Director Sakthi Chidambaram booked the floors of AVM Studio (for July 14) two weeks in advance for launching "Rajathi Raja" starring Lawrence with six heroines _ Meenakshi, Snigdha, Samiksha, Mumta, Kamna and Kiran. These actresses were, however, could not attend the function. Kushboo and her husband Sundar C were among those present.
"If we miss this date, we have to wait for a full month," Sakthi Chidambaram said.
Prakashraj and Ramba starrer "Vidiyum Varai Kaathiru" (budget Rs 3 crore) was another film that was launched at the same venue. Ramba, who is returning to Tamil cinema after a long interval, was keen on an auspicious day to make her re-entry. She was present at the pooja.
K. Balachandar and actor Prabhu were present at the launch of T.P. Gajendran's "Magane En Marumagane" featuring Nasser, Saranya and Vivek along with Mithun at the Ashta Vinayagar Sannadhi (AVM Studios). This is to be produced by Raj Television Network.
A film titled "Kudhirai" with Ramanaa in the lead under actor Nasser's home banner was launched _ also at the AVM Studios.
"Uchchakattam with new faces was launched at the Kalasa Recording Theatre. The film is to be produced by Gopal G and directed by Naveen. K.S. Ravikumar was present.
The other projects launched were "Adhe Neram, Adhe Idam", "Mammallan" (launched at Mahabalipuram), "Jothy", "Aravadhu Vanam" and an untitled film to be produced by Ramachandran.
On top all these functions, there was the high-profile "Saroja's" audio launch later in the evening.
English daily quoted Rama Narayanan, president of the Tamil Producers Council, as saying, "If they pay enough attention to story and script as they do to sentiment, we can call it a perfect ten for the industry."
