Dhanush plays multi-roles as a gullible teen from a village, an urbanized youth, Nattuvanar (dance master), a playboy, an Iyengar, and many other interesting characters in his forthcoming film "Parattai Engira Azhagu", a Tamil re-make of Kannada blockbuster "Jogi".

Meera Jasmine dons the role of an intrepid student journalist running around for sensational stories. Like Dhanush she is not tired of changing make-ups. She appears as an Iyengar "Mami", Bhakta Meerabai and other characters in the film.

Archana, who last acted in "Veedu" 13 years ago, has come forward to act as the mother of Dhanush. It is said that Archana has offered to play the mother character herself after seeing "Jogi". It is a very crucial role which impressed Archana.

"Parattai.." is a story based on mother-son sentiments. Dhanush who lives in a village comes to the city to eke out a livelihood. Finding her son's absence unbearable, the mother also leaves the village and comes to the city in search of his son. Meera Jasmine who has previous acquaintances with Dhanush and his mother, helps them in the city.

According to Director Suresh Krishna, the screenplay is "unimaginably" unusual. The story is a combination of emotions and action. It should be noted that there is no romance at all. But the scenes of Dhanush-Meera rendezvous are depicted in a way that the absence of romance as such is not felt. That there is no romance in the film is the strength of the film, the director says.

Suresh Krishna, who has worked with Rajinikanth in four films, is quoted as telling a film magazine that he has never had any problem with any hero. It is necessary to have a good chemistry between a director and an actor. "There is such chemistry existed between me and Dhanush in Parattai.. Dhanush is a director's actor and he is as dedicated and committed as Rajinikanth."

Music director Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed songs in different catchy tunes. One of the dance sequences featuring Dhanush and Meera Jasmine was filmed at the Gingee Fort. Cameraman Velraj has captured in celluloid Raja Desingh's Fort in its entire splendor. Producer Yogesh (banner: K.R. Infotainment) has made this mega film unmindful of the cost, Suresh Krishna says, adding that "Parattai.." will be totally different from other films of this genre.
