'Nellai Santhippu' is not about halwa and arival
Apr 30, 2012 PGVThe audio of 'Nellai Santhippu', a film produced by director Thirumalai under the banner of T Creations and directed by KPP Naveen, was released Chennai. The cast includes Rohith, Bhooshan, Megha Nair and Devika. Music is by Yugendran Vasudevan. Chevalier Raja is the cinematographer. Lyrics are by Andal Priyadarshini and Bukari while dialogues are by M.G. Kanniappan.
Thirumalai welcomed the gathering. Rama Subbu, MP, and director Vikraman released the audio. Sham, Charan and Isari Ganesh received it.
Speaking at the function, Vikraman said films that have been made with Tirunelveli as base show people living there as 'rowdies' and those wielding arivals (knives). But Tiruneveli has produced littérateurs, writers and lyricists, and leaders who sowed the seeds for the freedom struggle, and 'tyagis'.
But, Vikraman said, the place has been made synonymous with its 'halwa'. In fact, the natives do not know how to make a sweetmeat called 'Tirunelveli halwa'. Some people from North India, who migrated to Tirunelveli some generations ago, started this halwa business. Thus Tirunelveli has become famous for halwa. He said it should not be a one-sided story. There are many good things about Tirunelveli which 'Nellai Santhuppu' will play up.
P.L. Thenappan, Pattiyal Sekhar, S. Kathiresan and G. Kichcha were among others who attended the function. Director Naveen proposed a vote of thanks.
