No film to beat 'Anniyan' this fortnight

Aug 19, 2005 IANS, Aug 19

Chennai, Aug 19 (IANS) Though the collections of "Anniyan" have dropped considerably, the film continues to be at the top. Jeyam Ravi's new release "Dass" could not topple "Anniyan" from the top position.

1. "Anniyan" (director Shankar): Vikram dedicated more than a year to this film and the gamble has paid off. "Anniyan" is a big success not only in Tamil Nadu but in all the southern states.

2. "Dass" (director Babu Yogeswaran): This is Jeyam Ravi's first attempt at action and he has not disappointed his fans. His fans also did not disappoint him; the film is an average hit.

3. "Priyasakhi" (director Athiaman): Of late, films starring Madhavan have not been doing well at the box office. "Priyasakhi" is no exception. The biggest drawback is its story; it gives the impression that the film should have been made in the 60s and not in 2005.

4. "Ponniyin Selvan" (director Radha Mohan): This film is crucial for Ravi Krishna. Radha Mohan, known for clean family entertainers, has made a family drama aimed at family audiences.

5. "Chandramukhi" (director P. Vasu): The film continues its run in many theatres.
