Director AMR Ramesh, who is famous for realistic cinema, like 'Kuppi' and 'Kadhalar Kudiyiruppu', is back with 'Vanayudham'. The film, which will simultaneously be made in Kannada as 'Attahasa', will chronicle the rise and fall of 'Veerappan'.

Says Ramesh, ''The film will trace the 40 years of Veerappan's life, and talk about his subsequent death in an encounter. I've already sought permission from all the IPS officers who were involved in his encounter, including Vijayakumar and Senthamarai Kannan. I've even met a few of his associates. I have also met Kolathur Mani, who plays the role of Nagappa in my film. I've also spoken to Veerappan's wife, Muthulakshmi, about the making of the film,''.

He further adds,'' The film will have Kishore of 'Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu' fame, playing Veerappan. Action King Arjun will play Vijayakumar and Ravi Kalai will play Senthamarai Kannan. I've roped in Bollywood actor Suresh Oberoi and Divya Spandana to play the roles of Rajkumar and a journalist respectively. I'm on the lookout to cast artists for other important roles like that of Muthulakshmi for which I have Priyamani in mind. Things should be finalized in the next five days and we will get in on the ground floor by the end of this month. We will be shooting at real locations,''.

Ramesh also says that the film will not be of controversial nature. '' I've collected documents and judicial materials on Veerappan. I have credible first-hand information on his life. In fact, when Rajkumar was abducted by him, I met Kolathur Mani and Nedumaran personally to know the inside details. My interest in investigative journalism will definitely help me in giving a clear picture on his life,'' he informs.
