Sarath Kumar is playing the lead role in Gautham Menon's "Pachchakili Muthucharam". Jothika, who got married to actor Surya last month, is also in the lead.

The shooting of the film is progressing without hype. Most of the film has been shot in Hyderabad. Songs have been done in Kerala's picturesque spots.

The film was originally named "Silandhi" and it is now renamed as "Pachchakili Muthucharam" after a hit song in MGR's "Ulagam Suttrum Valiban".

Director Gautham Menon told a media conference recently that the name had to be changed for sentimental reasons.

He said,"it is an emotional drama in which a small mistake a man commits ruins his life."

Sarath plays the role of a married man. Andrea Jeremiah, a theatre artiste from Chennai, plays the role of Sarath's wife. Sarath's life takes a turn when he meets Jothika when they are working as employees. Jothika dons the role of a mature housewife.

Mumbai model Milind Soman plays the villain. The music is by Harris Jayaraj. Cinematographer Arvind Krishna is teaming up with Gautham Menon for the first time in this film.

Sarath Kumar told the reporters at the media conference that "I have never played such a role in all the 100 films that I have done. It's a special and different experience for me to work with Gautham."

Gautham Menon said: "I have often heard people say that my films focus more on the screenplay and presentation than on the story. So this time I have decided to change my style and make a film that is more story-oriented." The film is family drama-cum-thriller and is an experimental film, he added.

Shot in Super 35mm, the film is expected to be released around Christmas. It will be Jothika's first release after her wedding.
