Pyramid Saimira launches scheme to help producers
Apr 8, 2008 PVSPyramid Saimira, who has one of the largest networks of theatres in the country and abroad, has made a beginning on its Rs 500-crore investment plan for making 52 films this year.
To start with the entertainment company has selected 10 film producing companies each of which will make a film with its assistance.
The ten companies are:

2.Amuda Durairaj's Deivayanai Movie Makers
3.Sangali Murugan's Meenakshi Arts
4.Ramanathan's Raj Films International
5.'Karumari' Kandasamy and Rm. Subbaiah's Vijaya Movies
6.Azhagan Tamizh Manian's Sri Nachiyaar Amman Films
7.K. Balu's Malar Films
8.K. Rajan's K.R.P. Productions
9.Radha Ravi's BRR Art Enterprises
10.A.K. Vishnuram's Chinmaya Combines
A function was held on Sunday (April 6) in Chennai to launch the ten movies which these ten companies have been commissioned by Pyramid Saimira to produce. This is the first time in Tamil cinema that as many as 10 films were launched on a single day.
Film Producers Council president Rama Narayanan presided over the inaugural function. Film Chambers president K.R.G. was present. Pyramid Saimira managing director P.S. Saminathan inaugurated the scheme.
The ten producers were entrusted with the 'responsibility' of making a film each by director Cheran, actor Sibi, Vijayakumar, Sathyaraj, Hearth, Jeevan, Jayam Ravi, Prasanna, Murali, Parthiban and Sundar C.
Film Directors Association president S.A. Chandrasekhar, Chennai Theatre Owners Association president Abhirami Ramanathan, Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) secretary Uma Shankar Babu and Distributors Federation president Francis were among those who spoke. Pyramid Saimira director N. Narayanan welcomed the gathering and K.S. Srinivasan proposed a vote of thanks.
Besides running a chain of theatres all over the world, Pyramid Saimira is also into production of films in various languages and television soaps. It is also involved in film distribution.
According to Swaminathan , the ten films launched now would be produced with "structured methodology and inputs" from the Pyramid Saimira group. The company has created the infrastructure that is required to make films of international standards. PS has spent Rs 40 crores on the sets, property, technology inputs, software and hardware. Another Rs 100 crores would be invested in the near future.
