Rajini fans disappointed again
Oct 13, 2008 PVSMembers of Rajini fan clubs across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry arrived in Chennai on Oct.12 morning to meet the superstar and express their views to him on the need for him to enter politics, but they had to return disappointed.
Rajini did not show up at Sri Raghavendra Kalyanamantapam where the wedding of the daughter of kalyanamantapam manager Baba was held.
Tamil Rajini Fan Clubs president Satyanarayana had reportedly invited five members from each of 32 districts, including Puducherry, for the wedding.
There had been reports that Rajini was expected to grace the occasion and later in the evening would give audience to the fans. Fans had started gathering in front of the Kalyanamantapam since Oct. 11 morning. A large number of them arrived in buses and vans on Oct.12 morning. There was a commotion when they learnt that their "Thalaivar" had left Chennai on Oct. 4 for Goa in connection with the shooting of Shankar's "Endiran" (Robot).
Satyanarayana rushed to the Kalyanamantapam and appealed to the fans to go back to their places as Rajini was not in Chennai. "There is no chance of his meeting you today," he told them. The irate fans then had heated arguments with Satyanarayana.
On Oct 11, the office-bearers of the Chennai district "Rajini Rasigar Mandram" held a meeting at Valluvar Kottam and adopted resolutions stating that Rajini should involve himself in politics and announce the launching of a party with its flag and symbol.
The resolutions further stated that if Rajini is not inclined to meet the fans in this regard, they would be forced to resort to the Gandhian methods of agitation.
