Rajini keeps fans on tenderhooks
Oct 12, 2008 PVSA possible tete-a-tete between Rajinikanth and his fans expected to take place in Chennai earlier this week, did not come off. The superstar was away from Chennai and would have returned on Oct. 11 (Saturday). It is hoped that he will show up at the wedding of the daughter of Baba, the manager of Sri Raghavendra Marriage Hall, on Oct.12 (Sunday). This is the venue where Rajini normally meets his fans.
Tamil Nadu Fan Clubs president Satyanarayana has invited five members from each of 32 districts, including Pondicherry, to attend the wedding. These key functionaries are arriving in Chennai in the hope of meeting Rajini and persuade him to let them launch at least a people's movement, if not a political outfit under his leadership.
An English daily quoted Om Sekar, president of the Rajini Fan Clubs of Chennai as saying that "Satyanarayana has promised that we can have audience with Rajinikanth anytime after Oct.11."
With Rajini being as elusive as ever, the fans are becoming increasingly listless. A small section of the fans have brought out posters in some places to pressure their 'Thalaivar' to take the plunge.
The key functionaries invited by Satyanarayana for the wedding of Baba's daughter are arriving in Chennai with their fingers crossed. According to sources, they are of the strong view that with the Lok Sabha elections nearing this is the right time for Rajini to enter politics.
The question, however, remains that whether Rajini will give them audience and clear the air or let the guessing game continue.
