Rajini pats Kamal on 'Dasavatharam'

Only a few hours are to go for the much awaited "Dasavatharam" to hit the screens with 1,000 prints. So much has been written and talked about the film ever since the launch of the film that it has created a great sense of expectation not only among the public but also in the film world. What is known till now is that the film features Kamal Haasan in ten different roles. The storyline has been kept a closely guarded secret. Even court proceedings have not shed any light on what "Dasavatharam" billed as Kamal's magnum opus is all about. The suspense will end in a few hours.


Kamal organized special screenings on Tuesday and Wednesday for Kollywood celebrities, including superstar Rajinikanth and director K.Balachander.


Rajini saw the special show in the company of Kamal at Four Frame Theatre at Nungambakkam on Tuesday. He came alone and was received by Kamal at the theatre. "Extraordinary" is the word Rajini reportedly used while patting Kamal on his performance. Rajini was said to have particularly praised the tsunami scenes. He was also amused at the ten different roles which Kamal portrayed.


The film was screened for other actors, actresses and directors at Prasad 'Lab' theatre at Saligramam. Sarath Kumar, his wife Radhika, Prabhu, Suriya, Jeyam Ravi, Bharat, Nagesh, Sarathbabu and Manorama and directors K. Balachander, Dharani and Vishnuvardhan were among others who watched the preview.


K.Balachander, who Kamal regards as his "Guru", was so overwhelmed that he visited Kamal and K.S. Ravikumar, who directed the film, at their homes and presented them with shawls.


All those who had a chance to watch the previews were said to be all praise for Kamal.


The film was screened exclusively for Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. He and Kamal spent sometime together discussing the film.
