Rajini tells Pudukottai fan not to enter poll fray

May 24, 2012 PGV

Superstar Rajinikanth has taken serious exception to Pudukottai District Fan Club secretary K. Sridhar’s decision to contest the June 12 by-election to the State Assembly from the Pudukottai constituency.

Sridhar filed his nomination for the by-election on May 21 without the superstar’s knowledge.

Rajini has conveyed his ‘displeasure’ to Sridhar through the Rajinikanth Fan Clubs Association head Sudhakar.

Urging Sridhar to withdraw his nomination, Sudhakar reportedly said they had come to know of Sridhar’s entering the fray only through media reports. “I asked him not to use the name of the fans club or its flag if he wished to go ahead with his decision to contest the by-election.”

“Any member of the Rajinikanth Fan Clubs Association can contest any election or work for any party, but the fan clubs cannot be used for their politics,” Sudhakar said.

Sridhar, who admitted that he had filed the nomination with Rajini’s knowledge, said Sudhakar wanted him to reconsider his decision, but “it was not his decision alone; it was a collective decision of the office-bearers of the Pudukottai District Fan Clubs.” They would meet and take a final call, he said.

Sources close to him however say Sridhar may withdraw from the poll fray respecting the sentiments of the superstar.
