Rajini to confer with fan club leaders

All eyes are now turned on superstar Rajinikanth as he is meeting his fan club leaders from across the State in the first week of October (most probably on Oct. 2 or the next day) to hear their views on his future course of action with regard to politics.

He returned to Chennai last Saturday after completing his first schedule of shooting for Shankar's "Endiran" (Robot) in US, Peru and Brazil.

His forthcoming meeting with his fan club leaders assumes significance in the context of the Loyola College poll survey which showed his popularity is waning (see IANS report of Sept.26).

It is expected that Rajini will make his mind known after hearing the views of the fans that have been mounting pressure on him to enter politics. He was even forced to take back his dialogues in "Kuselan" that he should not be taken seriously about his statements touching on politics.

After his return to Chennai last Saturday, he has consultations with friends and advisors on whether to continue his acting career as desired by those who participated in the poll survey or take the plunge into politics.

What transpires at his meeting with the fan club leaders will help him to take a firm decision, sources say.

The superstar may suggest the starting of a social service organization by the fan clubs with the objective of helping the poor, the aged and the weaker sections of society. It may be named "Kural" (Voice). Depending on the circumstances, this organization may be developed into a political party.
