Rajinikanth is in Singapore for treatment
May 30, 2011 PSSuperstar Rajinikanth, who flew to Singapore for further treatment, was taken to the ICU at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital, immediately after arrival. The 61-year-old actor was taken to Singapore for 'rest and rehabilitation' after being discharged from the Porur Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre where he was admitted on May 13 for respiratory infection and other problems.
The actor was earlier admitted to Singapore's National Kidney Foundation, which is a medical centre and charitable organisation for patients with renal trouble in need of dialysis and transplant. The actor had reportedly earlier undergone multiple dialysis at Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre in Chennai.
There are also reports that the superstar will undergo treatment for kidney ailment in Singapore. Meanwhile, thousands of his fans have thronged the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore to know about his well being. Before leaving India, the matinee idol also left a brief recorded voice message in Tamil promising that he would return soon. In the one minute audio tape he said, "I am happily going about my routine. Will come as soon as the treatment gets over. How can I reciprocate the love you have shown for me? How will I pay you all back? I will never let down all my fans throughout the world. I have God's blessings and the blessings of the Guru. Above all, I have the blessing of all my fans who are the manifestation of God.'
Interestingly, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan advised Rajinikanth to go to Singapore's Mount Elizabeth hospital for medical treatment. Sources close to the superstar's family had revealed, "Rajini has been diagnosed with renal failure leading to kidney complications. His family is indebted to Amitabhji for recommending the treatment in Singapore." Coincidentally, veteran politician Amar Singh underwent kidney transplantation at the same hospital in Singapore recently.
Sources from the medical fraternity now say that the actor's earlier dependence on ayurvedic medicines may have damaged his kidneys. Mass-produced Ayurvedic medicines apparently contain excessive amounts of mercury, lead and arsenic. Continuous usage of these medicines can lead to organ failure, particularly renal failure and gastro-intestinal conditions, due to the accumulation of these metals in the body. Symptoms resembling these have been reported in Rajinikanth. Though ayurvedic practitioners swear by the effectiveness of these medicines, they also say the current mass production of these medicines differs from the original preparation methods practised since centuries.
Rajinikanth is a firm believer of traditional methods of healing and spirituality. With little information available about Rajinikanth's current health condition in Singapore, his fans are looking the godly way, praying their Superstar should spring back to his lightning speed acting.
