Producer and director Ramgopal Varma is working on a big project to make a film on the life of forest brigand Veerappan who met his end while being captured by a special team of the Tamil Nadu police a few years ago.

Veerappan's wife Muthulakshmi flew down to Mumbai recently and met Varma and his team and they reportedly discussed the storyline of the film.

According to reports, during the discussions, Muthulakshmi provided valuable inputs, including about her first meeting with Veerappan and insights into his life in the jungles. She has reportedly cleared the project and she may be given a role.

Varma and Ekta Kapoor will produce the film, while Prashant Pandey, the writer of Varma's latest film "Sarkar Raj", will be the director..

Reports quoted Varma as saying that only new comers will be featured in the film as Prashant wants the look and characters should approximate a sense of reality to maintain the authenticity of the film. Those coming to see the film in theatres already know that it is a true story. Hence, they must have a first-hand connection with the characters.

According to Varma, the film will track Veerappan from the time when he was a skinny pale teenager till how he changed into a 'cunning chameleonic monster'. The film will also tell the story of Muthulakshmi, the girl who fell in love with the dreaded bandit.
