Saguni, Bill 2 release on same day

Karthi-starrer ‘Saguni’ will be released on June 22 coinciding with the release of much-hyped Ajith-starrer Billa 2.

Saguni was scheduled for release on June 26 but what prompted the makers of the film to advance the date to June 22 is not known. Producers usually avoid release of big movies simultaneously as such a clash would affect business.

It is said ‘Saguni’ is releasing in both Tamil and Telugu on June 22 in over 700 theatres.

Blla 2 and ‘Saguni’ are now with the Censor Board and hopefully they will get clearance before June 22.

Bill 2 is a big budget flick, a prequel to Ajith’s superhit Billa, which has raised great expectations.

Shankar Dayal’s ‘Saguni’ is touted as a political satire. Karthi was last seen in ‘Siruthai’ which released in January 2011. In Karthi’s words, ‘Saguni’ is a breezy entertainer set in a political background. A boy with his forehead smeared with ‘vibhuti’ (sacred ash) from Karaikudi comes to the big bad city and goes through a transformation. Playing opposite Karthi is Pranita, a great dancer.
