Sathyaraj to produce 'Lee' with son Sibi as hero

Aug 26, 2006 PVS

Veteran actor Sathyaraj, who has acted in 175 films and created a niche for himself in the Tamil Film Industry, has set up his own company "Nammathal Film Factory" (named after his mother) to produce his first film "Lee" with his son, Sibi Raj, playing the lead role pairing with Nila, who was introduced in S.J. Suryah's "Anbe Aaruyire".

Sathyaraj has selected Prabhu Solomon who has directed "Kokki" and "King", to direct "Lee". The story, screenplay and dialogue are also by Prabhu Solomon.

The story is about a world-class football player and his travails. He is made a victim of corruption among his mentors and kept out of the field. How he faces the problems is the crux of the story. Maybe Prabhu Solomon was inspired to write this story after the recent Football World Cup matches.

Sathyaraj had watched "Kokki" and approached Prabhu Solomon who narrated the story of the cast-away football player. Sathyaraj decided to produce the new film now named "Lee" under the banner of his own company. This is the first ever film being produced by Sathyaraj.

Sathyaraj said "Lee" is a big budget film and he could not expect others to finance this project. Grandeur and splendor are what "Lee" needed to make it 'out of the ordinary.'

Prakashraj is given an important role as a bad guy. Zahir, who plays the villain in Ram Gopal Varma's films, is making his debut in Tamil through "Lee".

D.Iman scores the music and Rajesh Yadav handles the camera.

The shooting was scheduled to begin on Aug.26. Starting from Chennai, the shooting will continue in Tirunelveli and Nagercoil areas.
