Shankar takes a well-deserved break before his next

Oct 7, 2010 NR

Director Shankar, who has scaled new heights of success with his magnum opus Endhiran - The Robot, is going on a much deserved holiday with his family to an international destination. Shankar has a habit of leaving for a holiday right after each film of his hits the theaters. After around 3 years of hard work and struggle, his Endhiran has opened to mind-blowing results and is on its way to become perhaps the biggest hit India has ever seen.

After the break, Shankar would be back in Chennai to start work on his next project - the remake of the Hindi blockbuster 3 Idiots (the current record holder for being the biggest hit in India). Actor Vijay was confirmed for the character played by Aamir Khan long back. But there were speculations about the other two actors playing roles played by Madhavan and Sharman Joshi. Simbu was approached for one of the roles, but he politely refused the offer. The latest news is that actors Siddharth and Jeeva have been confirmed as the other two main leads in the film. Harris Jayaraj is already on board to compose music for the film as AR Rahman would be busy with international concerts and projects. This would be Harris' second movie with Shankar after Anniyan. The search for the heroine (played by Kareena Kapoor in the original) is still on.
