Simbu in 'Dabang' Tamil Remake

Feb 25, 2011 PS

While many top league super heroes including Vijay have evinced interest to be in Salman Khan's shoes, post his 'Dabangg' success, it is Simbu who has managed a coup of sorts. Elated by the developments, the 'young superstar', as he fondly called, says,'' I watched the film many times over and I fell in love with Salman's role as 'Chulbul Pandey' and wanted to do the film in Tamil''.

The film's runaway success and its record breaking collections had many queue up for its remake rights, but it was producer Ramesh of 'Utthamaputhiran' fame grabbed it for a fancy amount from Arbaaz Khan. Simbu, after the success of 'Vinnaithaandi Varuvayaa', says,'' I am re-working my diary to allot some bulk dates to my producer Ramesh. The producer is in the process of casting and I did suggest Sonam Kapoor as my first choice. In all probability she will be the heroine''. On toying with the idea of directing himself, the actor says,'' I would love to direct the film. But it is better that another director handles it. We have considered few directors''. It looks like Saravanan, the cinematographer-turned-director with Simbu starrer 'Silambattam', is the forerunner since he enjoys a great rapport with the actor.
