Sony has bought the music rights of director Gautham Menon’s ‘Neethane Enn Ponvasantham’ (NEP) for Rs.2 crore.

The price is higher than it paid for the audio rights of Gautham’s earlier superhit film ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya’.

A source in the unit is quoted as saying, “While the audio rights of VTV fetched Rs. 1.5 crore, the audio rights of NEP have been bought for Rs.2 crore.”

The NEP music has been scored by maestro Ilayaraaja. The audio will be released in the first weekly of July.

Gautham is currently in London and is expected to return on June 14.

NEP featuring Jiiva and Samantha is almost ready. It is learnt Gautham will wait till the release of K.V. Anand’s ‘Maatran’, may be on Independence Day (Aug.15). This means NEP may release late August or early September.

Gautham is to start work on his next film Yohan: Adhyayam Ondru starring Vijay in July.
