Soundarya selects Vijayalakshmi for 'Sultan'
Jul 26, 2008 PVSVijayalakshmi, who featured in "Chennai-28" and "Anjathey", has finally been selected to play opposite Rajinikanth in the "live action" portion of the animation film "Sultan the Warrior" being produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth's Ocher Studio and Warner Brothers.
Ileana who had been widely mentioned for the role, had to drop out as the producers reportedly refused to pay even half her market price which is Rs one crore.
For Vijayalakshmi, it is a windfall. She is said to have received a call from one of the assistants of Soundarya when she was shooting at Namakkal for "Adhe Idam Adhe Neram" in which she pairs with Jai. The assistant spoke to her and asked if she would be interested in being cast in "Sultan". At first she could not believe her ears.
She participated in the first day's shooting with Rajinikanth in Hyderabad on July 25. According to reports, she was absolutely overawed in the superstar's presence, but he put her at ease advising her to treat this like any other film and give it her best shot.
The confidence of Vijayalakshmi was further boosted when Soundarya reportedly appreciated her good work on the first day.
She said she did not expect this even in her wildest dreams and recalled that her father Agathiyan (National Award winner) used to tell her that if she put in her best effort she could expect the unexpected.
