Actress Suhasini has requested directors to introduce handsome heroes like MGR and Kamal Haasan. She was speaking at a function to launch the music audio of 'Panithuli' produced and directed by Natti Kumar in Chennai on Jan.12.

Director Cheran released the audio and Suhasini received it.

Addressing the participants, Suhasini, who is also a film analyst, said that in Tamil filmdom, these days it is rare to see handsome heroes being introduced in films. It is a long time since a good-looking hero was seen in a Tamil film. After MGR, Kamal Haasan, Ajith and Arvindsamy, handsome faces are rarely seen as heroes in movies. Directors and producers should introduce heroes like MGR and Kamal. What they see on screen nowadays are stubbly heroes in lungis folded up and wielding 'aruvals' (long knives). Suhasini said she is saying this not as an actress but as a film buff.

She also stressed the need to make films for women. She said they should not be kept out simply because there are any number of TV serials for them. Women would certainly come to theatres if women-centric films are produced, she said.

Director Cheran, who spoke next, said fair skin alone would not make a man handsome and beautiful; there are men with dark complexion who are also handsome.

Tamil Film Producers Association vice-presidents T.G.Thyagarjan and T. Siva, Film Chamber secretary Ravi Kottarakara, directors Vishnuvardhan and Gnana Rajasekharan, actors Ganesh Venkatram and Vincent Ashokan and actress Sonia Agarwal were among those who attended the function.
