Suhasini's mother on stage for the first time

Director Thankar Bachan’s ‘Ammavin Kapesi’ audio launch at Sathyam Cinemas on Oct.1 was special for more than one reason.

In deference to the wishes of Bachan, Suhasini Mani Ratnam attended the event along with her mother. Bachan had requested the invitees to bring their mothers also as the film was about mother’s love.

Suhasini, who was one of those responded to Bachan’s invitation, said this was the first time she had brought her mother with her for a film event though she had been in the cine field for over 30 years. And this was the first time her mother had agreed to come on stage because of her great regard for Thankar Bachan, Suhasini said.

Another feature of the event was that women from an old age home were there to tell how their children had abandoned them.They attributed the disconnect between them and their beloved sons to the latter’s changing priorities with age.

The film, which features Shanthanoo and Iniya in the lead, depicts a mother’s love for her son.
