Chennai, Aug 22 (IANS) Tamil actor Vishal has hit a hat-trick with "Thimiru", an out-and-out action film, which is doing well at the box office. It had a terrific opening not only in the big cities but in B and C centres as well.

The top five Tamil films are:

1. "Thimiru" - Director: Tarun Gopi. Vishal's family made this film to establish him as 'action king' and they have succeeded in their endeavour. After "Chellame" and "Sandai Kozhi", this is his third hit. Actress Shriya Reddy shines too in the film.

2. "Something Something Unakkum Enakkum" - Director: Raja. Even with "Thimiru" doing so well, there is a steady audience for this Tamil remake of one of the most talked about Telugu films.

3. "Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi" - Director: Simbudevan. Quite a few weeks have passed since "Imsai Arasan" conquered the theatres, but people are still thronging halls in large numbers. Many new movies came and disappeared after "Imsai Arasan", but this one is not ready to budge.

4. "Uyir" - Director: Samy. This is an unexpected hit and the credit goes to a passionate performance by Sangeeta who plays Srikanth's sex-starved sister-in-law.

5. "Aran" - Director: Major Ravi. While the4 Malayalam original "Keerthichakra" is doing exceedingly well in Kerala, this dubbed Tamil version has no such luck. The controversy surrounding the dubbing of Mohanlal's voice with a dubbing artist has an adverse affect on the film.
