Malayalam actress Vaishali has made her debut in the Tamil film ‘Mannaaru’ directed by S. Jayashankar. It is a village love story and Vaishali plays Mallika who is the central character.

Partnering with her are Appukutty who got recognition for his performance in ‘Azhagirisamiyin Kuthirai’, and Thambi Ramaiah. Both of them are national award winners. The makers of ‘Mannaaru’ had waited for four years to find an actor who is best suited for the lead role and finally cast Appukutty.

Vaishali herself is delighted to have Appukutty as her co-star in ‘Mannaaru’. “It’s an honour to work with talented artistes, especially my co-star Appukutty,” she said.

There had been an acting camp for all the artistes of the film before the shoot.

Director Jayashankar said the shooting was held continuously for 55 days at Kodaikanal and its surroundings and it has come out well.

Interestingly, Vaishali has dubbed for herself in her Tamil debut film.

She claims she is receiving offers now and she will do only meaningful roles.

Vaishali has done a cameo in ‘Three Kings’ and signed up for debutant Pramod’s ‘Edison Photos’.
