'Vettai' goes to Bollywood!

Jul 14, 2011 PS

Director Lingusamy's 'Vettai' is going places. Yes, the multi-starrer starring Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul, will now be released in Hindi as well along with the initially planned Tamil and Telugu versions.

While speaking about this, director Lingusamy said, ''Yes, we will be releasing the film in Hindi. We have completed 60 per cent of the shoot and are looking at a November release,''. Industry sources say that the move primarily happened because of two reasons- the recent tie-up between Lingusamy's production house and a major Bollywood studio (which will be co-producing three of their films) and the fact that Madhavan has now become a star to be counted at the Bollywood box office, post the success of 'Tanu Weds Manu'.

However, the director clarifies,''the decision has nothing to do with Maddy's recent hit. The film is a commercial entertainer and has a universal theme which I felt would work well with a pan-Indian audience. I consider the script to be my best till date and felt that this was the right time for me to make an entry into Bollywood,''.

In one way, Lingusamy isn't new to Bollywood as his Tamil superhit 'Run' was earlier remade in Hindi (under the same name) by the late cinematographer-director Jeeva with Abhishek Bachchan and Bhumika Chawla in the lead. Click the Movie button below for more info:
