'Vettaiyadu...' tops Tamil charts

Chennai, Sep 19 (IANS) Even the arrival of the last Suriya-Jyothika starrer, "Jillunu Oru Kaadhal", has had no effect on the amazing run of "Vettaiyadu Vilayadu". The action thriller continues to top the charts.

The top five Tamil films are:

1. "Vettaiyadu Vilayadu" - Director: Gowtham Menon. It may be described as a Kamal Haasan film but the credit for the film's success should go to its director Gowtham Menon.

2. "Jillunu Oru Kaadhal" - Director: Krishna. The movie was touted as the next biggie after "Vettaiyadu Vilayadu", but it is proving a damp squib after a great opening.

3. "Thimiru" - Director: Tarun Gopi. The film's success shows the power of marketing. Of course, it is a good action thriller, but excellent marketing by actor Vishal's family has made a huge difference to its popularity.

4. "Something Something Unakkum Enakkum" - Director: Raja. Like the Telugu original, the Tamil remake starring Jeyam Ravi and Trisha is breaking box-office records.

5. "Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi" - Director: Simbudevan. It continues to make people laugh everywhere.
