Vijay stands his ground on 'Thandavam' script

Oct 7, 2012 PGV

Assistant director Ponnusamy who has been claiming that it was his script that Director A.L.Vijay used to make Vikram-starrer ‘Thandavam’, is said to be still keeping his hopes alive that the Directors Association will find an amicable solution to the issue after director Bharathiraja’s first meeting with the parties concerned.

There were reports that it was suggested at the meeting that Vijay could produce Ponnusamy’s first film as a solution to the issue.

Reacting to these reports, Vijay clarified that the meeting only discussed the resignation of Ameer from the post of general secretary of the Directors association and some of the executive committee members over the issue.

Maintaining that he had registered the story of ‘Thandavam’ with the writers association and decided to do the film in June last year long before Ponnusamy entered the fray, Vijay said court also had dismissed Ponnusamy’s petition and there ended the matter.

“Our only concern now is that there were conflict of ideas between the directors and assistant directors within the association. Ponnusamy and I have no issues; he is really talented, and I wish him well,” Vijay reportedly told the newspaper which first broke the news about a possible truce between Ponnusamy and him. “I am a director, not a producer,” Vijay said and added he was surprised when he heard that he would be producing Ponnusamy’s film.
