Y.Gee Mahendran plans to remake ‘Paritchaiku Neramaachu,’ a 1982 box-office hit. Sivaji Ganesan did the role of an orthodox Brahmin, Nadathur Naasimhachari. Y.G Mahendran played his son who was not good at studies. The anxiety of the father and his capricious hold on his son ultimately led to the tragic death of the boy.

While Y.G Mahendran himself plans to reprise Sivaji Ganesan in the remake, he has approached Santhanam to play the role of son. “Santhanam is keen to do the film” Y G said confirming his plans.

Y.G and Santhanam discussed the project when Santhanam went to watch a play during the 60th year celebration of United Artists Association, founded by Y.G. Parthasarathy. They talks were preliminary.

‘Parichaikku Neramaachu’ was an adaptation of a stage play written by Vietnam Veedu Sundaram. Y.G Mahendran’s troupe was the first to stage this play. Later Muktha Srinivasan made it into a film.
