Sri Lankan Tamilians' participation in Tamil cinema is increasing day by day. Those who were simply fans of Tamil cinema have now become a part of Tamil cinema. For example, in the recent hit 'Aadukalam', poet Jayabalan debuted in an important role. Now another Sri Lankan Tamilian Varun is debuting as second-hero with a new film 'Kadamai Kanniyam Kattupaadu', which has R K in the lead role.

Though Varun's parents are native of Sri Lanka, he was born and brought up in Norway. He is doing his second year medicine in a Norway university. Moreover, he is a relative of the film's producer Anandhan. He says,'' I never had an idea of acting in this film. But it was director Shaji Kailas who insisted me repeatedly to do the role. I also gave a short break for my studies because of the shooting. In the film, I am donning the role of an encounter specialist. My co-star R K gave me some useful tips related to this particular role. And now I have planned to do more films''.
