Balakrishna acquitted in shooting case
Feb 5, 2005 IANS Feb 4Hyderabad, Feb 4 (IANS): A court here Friday acquitted Telugu actor Balakrishna in a case of shooting at his residence last year, saying there was no evidence against him.
Metropolitan sessions judge K. Raja Gopala Reddy said the prosecution had failed to provide evidence to prove the charges against Balakrishna.
Film producer Bellakonda Suresh and astrologer Satyanarayana Chowdary had initially claimed they were injured when Balakrishna allegedly opened fire at his residence here June 3 last year.
Balakrishna, son of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N.T. Rama Rao, had allegedly fired his licensed revolver after an argument over a film.
But Suresh and Chowdary later told the court they were not sure who had fired at them.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. Dinesh Reddy said the police would study the judgment and decide whether to challenge it.
